SHAFT ALIGNMENT(Get Shaft Alignment Calculator by registered first)
Shaft alignment is the procedure for positioning the driven and driving shafts relative to one another for the purpose of ensuring true concentricity. If this is not carried out correctly, strain and vibration will very quickly be set up leading to rapid wear of the bearings and the coupling parts. This can lead to breakdown and forced shutdown of the plant, which in turn can be very costly. Therefore, it is very important that the two shafts have a common axes. Errors of alignment/misalignment fall into one of three categories : (1) Error of ANGULARITY (2) Error of PARALLEL OFFSET / ECCENTRICITY (3) A combination of 1 and 2. Errors of Angularity This type of error, illustrated below is where the centre line, or axes of the shafts are not parallel.
